#1 - Being Thankful
--------------------------------------------------------------------
In this Thanksgiving Season, it's important for us
to consider the value of THANKFULNESS in your
marketing:
Do you ever send out Thank-You Cards after a show?
Do you ever mail a letter thanking your customer for
hiring you?
Why bother?
1. It's the right thing to do. You couldn't support your
family without the help of your customers.
2. It puts your name in front of the customer again.
A Thank-You card is part of the whole marketing process:
Think of Marketing as helping people to know who you are:
#1- ADVERTISING
#2- INFORMATION PACKET with TESTIMONIALS
#3- CONTRACT, POSTERS,
#4- SHOW - the product
#5 THANK-YOU is the followup and the good-bye.
It says, "Our relationship is not over. I'm available if you
ever need me again."
Elements important to every Thank-you:
1. Reiterate the benefits from the show:
I often write something like: "Everyone really seemed to
have a good time at the party." or "People were very
appreciative of me coming to their table at the wedding
reception."
They hired you for the BENEFITS. So, restate them.
2. Express your thanks. You are continuing to build
your relationship with the customer.
3. Your contact information: Be sure that your Thank-you
card includes your address, phone or web address.
They may have discarded all of your other information
after the show. But they could possibly have a guest
that calls them later for your contact info.
4. Referral Request. In the Thank-you card, you could
say, "I'll be calling you this week to ask you for a
referral to someone who may need my services."
And then followup and call them. If the person has
no one that they can refer you to, then AT LEAST
get a nice TESTIMONIAL from them about the show.
TESTIMONIALS are like money!
Ask for them all the time. In fact, it would be rude
of you to ask your customer for a testimonial if
you didn't first send them a Thank-you card.
DID YOU KNOW...
MagicBase has Thank-you Card built in to the program?
You can customize it to print out what you want, or
you can print it blank, with your logo and then
HAND-WRITE a Thanks. (The Best Way!)
Also, MagicBase ( http://www.magicbase.biz )
also has built in:
* Thank-you Card Envelope which is automatically
printed with the customer's address.
* Referral Letter Request form to give to the
customer after a show for them to mail you
a referral.

#2 - The Bad Part About Being a Performer is..
--------------------------------------------------------------------
If Performing is your main income source,
then you know some of the negatives about it:
- Uncertain income.
- Some low income months (like Nov.)
- No residual income
(Residual income = work once and get paid over and over)
I'm not saying that I don't want to be a magician.
I do. But I wish that I could eliminate those negatives
and keep all the positives. I found out how...
